Short and plain. We never see your audio.

Your audio

We don't collect, store, or transmit your audio. Ever. Decoding, analysis, rendering, and export all happen on your device. There is no server-side audio pipeline. There's nowhere for your files to go even if we wanted them.

Your projects

The app keeps your in-progress work in your browser's local storage and in the .zestial.json files you choose to save. Those stay on your machine unless you explicitly use Zestial Cloud.

It also remembers where your audio files sit on disk, so reopening a project doesn't make you find them again. That is a browser permission token rather than the audio, your browser can revoke it, and it never leaves your device.

Zestial Cloud

Zestial Cloud is optional, opt-in, and entirely separate from the editor. If you never sign in, nothing in this section applies to you. The app doesn't contact us at all.

What we store if you do sign in

  • Your email address. That's the whole account. There's no password. We email you a six-digit code, and we store a keyed hash of that code, never the code itself.
  • Sign-in sessions. A cookie holds a random token; we store only a keyed hash of it, so a copy of our database can't be used to sign in as you. Sessions expire after 30 days.
  • Subscription status. Plan, state, and the date the current period ends, mirrored from our payment provider.
  • Projects and presets you explicitly sync. These are the same JSON documents the app saves to disk: layers, effects, parameters and canvas settings.
  • Render history. Dimensions, frame rate and duration of exports you make. Metadata only; the video file itself never leaves your device.

What we never store

Your audio. Not on the free tier, not on Cloud, not ever. A synced project references your tracks by name; when you open it somewhere else, Zestial asks you to point it at your own copy of the audio. This is also why a shared composition arrives silent until the person opening it adds their own track.

We also don't store card details. Our payment provider handles billing and we never see the numbers.

Share links

Sharing a project creates an unlisted link. Anyone who has the link can view and copy that composition, so treat it as public; it isn't indexed or listed anywhere, but it isn't access-controlled either. The shared copy contains no information about who made it. Deleting the project stops the link working immediately.

Taking your data out, and deleting it

Both live in the Cloud panel in the app:

  • Export downloads everything we hold for your account as a single JSON file, including the full contents of every synced project, so the file re-opens in the app rather than only describing what was there.
  • Delete account erases your account, sessions, synced projects and their stored files, presets, render history and subscription record. It is immediate and irreversible. Anything saved on your own device is untouched.

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel that in the billing portal first, or you'll keep being charged for an account that no longer exists.
